Solution Impact

What are the advantages and disadvantages to possible solutions?

Advantages

One thing the US could do firstly is ban the bad pesticides while we help rebuild the bee populations everywhere.

The bad pesticides are known as neonics, which are the most commonly used insecticide. Neonicotinoids, here in the US, are currently used on about 95% of corn and other crops. The majority being, cotton, sorghum, and sugar beets. In addition to how these insecticides affect the nervous system, they are also used as systemic pesticides. This means that it stays with the plant as it grows. While this reduces the risks to human exposure, a number of studies have found evidence of the neonics in nectar, pollen or leaf surface moisture, thus further risk of exposure to bees.

Disadvantages

Each potential solution has advantages but also come with secondary affects for the bees noted in other sections of this website. However, due to the importance of the bee pollination needs worldwide, all possible solutions are worth exploring.
